About Us

Who does Children’s Haven help?
Children’s Haven provides a temporary home to children ages birth
through 17 years whose families are experiencing a crisis.

A family
crisis may include, but is not limited to:

  • one or both parents being hospitalized
  • parents seeking mental health or substance abuse treatment
  • fear of abusing or neglecting children
  • lack of food, shelter, or utilities
  • death of a parent
  • incarceration of a parent

Children’s Haven provides a safe, secure, home-like environment for children while their families seek the help they need. Through the services we provide, we work to protect children, prevent child abuse and neglect, reduce family stress, and keep families together.

How does Children’s Haven operate?
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our professional staff can assist up to 12 children at a time. Located at 7th and Picher in Joplin, our home is a warm and inviting place designed to help children feel at ease during what is often a very stressful time.

We are governed by a 15-member volunteer board of directors
